The Opportunity

Woking’s success story continues and with it a need for convenient, sustainable housing and a wider variety of comparison shopping. The town centre provides the perfect location for the next release of housing, commercial and complementary leisure and wellbeing uses. At Woking Gateway, residents will be able to take advantage of the revitalised and diverse retail, leisure, business and hospitality facilities the town centre offers. An opportunity now exists to work with Woking Borough Council (WBC) to bring forward the regeneration of this key site.

The site is bounded by High Street, Chapel St and Commercial Way in the heart of Woking, as shown below edged in red. The 0.598 hectare (1.48 acre) Gateway site is currently in fragmented ownership and characterised by a mix of secondary retailers and financial services, with upper parts occupied by offices, residential and other miscellaneous uses.

LOCATION

Gateway is located opposite the prime retail core and the emerging cluster of food and beverage operators including: Carluccios, Bills, Las Iguanas and Côte. The site is less than 2 minutes’ walk from Woking mainline station, which provides a fast service to London Waterloo in just 23 minutes. Trains run every few minutes to the capital via Clapham Junction or direct to Waterloo.
